GHANA has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Toyota Tsusho Corporation (TTC) to strengthen the country’s automotive sector and promote green mobility.
President John Dramani Mahama signed the agreement on behalf of the Government of Ghana during the Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) in Yokohama, Japan.

The partnership aims to introduce environmentally friendly vehicles in Ghana, beginning with Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs), as part of the country’s broader strategy to reduce carbon emissions and support sustainable transportation.
Beyond green vehicle promotion, the agreement also paves the way for technical training, knowledge transfer, and the potential establishment of a Toyota Academy in Ghana to boost human resource development.

This initiative supports Ghana’s industrialization agenda and positions the country as a competitive hub for automotive assembly and innovation in Africa. It also reinforces trade and investment ties between Ghana and Japan.
