VETERAN journalist and National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwart, Adnan Adams Mohammed, has officially declared his intention to contest for a position on the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC), pledging to strengthen grassroots participation, improve party communication and enhance the training of young party cadres.
Adams announced his decision in a formal memorandum to the party leadership dated October 20, 2026, positioning his candidacy as an opportunity to bring his extensive organizational experience and professional media expertise to the party’s national leadership.
In his declaration, he said, his decision to contest was motivated by his longstanding commitment to the principles of probity, accountability and social justice, as well as his desire to serve the party at a higher administrative level.
“My decision to step forward for this role is rooted in a lifelong dedication to the principles of Probity, Accountability and Social Justice, coupled with a deep desire to serve at the highest administrative level,” he stated.
Adams highlighted his political journey, which has seen him serve in various capacities, including Branch Secretary and Constituency Communications Officer, before becoming a Co-Founder of the NDC Press Corps.
He said, his experience at the grassroots and national levels had equipped him with an understanding of the operational challenges facing local party structures and the strategic demands of national leadership.
According to him, his candidacy seeks to bridge the gap between grassroots members and the party’s national decision-making structures to ensure that the concerns and needs of members receive the necessary attention.
“Having worked from the branch level all the way to the national platform, I understand both the core operational needs of our grassroots members and the strategic imperative required at the national executive level,” he noted.
Three Priority Areas:
If elected to the NEC, Adams said, his agenda would focus on revitalizing party communications, strengthening youth and cadre development programmes and establishing more effective communication channels between regional and branch executives and the national headquarters.
On communications, he emphasized the need for the party to harness professional media expertise to improve public engagement, communicate its policies effectively and respond strategically to political developments.
He argued that, a coordinated communications system would help the party articulate its positions more clearly and strengthen its engagement with the Ghanaian electorate.
“Streamlining communication channels between national leadership and branch executives ensures our base is well-resourced, heard and prioritized,” he stressed.
Adams also underscored the importance of investing in youth development and training networks to equip party members with the skills, knowledge and organizational capacity required to support the NDC’s activities and objectives.
He maintained that, stronger coordination between the party’s national leadership and grassroots structures would be essential to building an effective and responsive organization.
Calls for Experienced Leadership:
As part of his appeal to delegates and party elders, Adams urged them to support candidates with proven administrative experience, organizational competence and a clear understanding of the party’s operational needs.

He said, the NDC required an executive body capable of translating its political objectives into practical strategies while maintaining strong ties with members at all levels.
“The NDC remains the hope of the Ghanaian people,” he declared, adding that fulfilling the party’s promise required leadership with experience, operational depth, unwavering loyalty and the ability to implement effective strategies.
His declaration adds to the internal political activities surrounding the party’s leadership and organizational arrangements as it continues to consolidate its structures and prepare for future political engagements.
Adams’ campaign is expected to centre on grassroots empowerment, professional communication, youth development and improved coordination between the party’s national leadership and local structures.
