RESIDENTSof Yadzo and Menuso in the Kadjebi District of the Oti Region have received a boost in education and healthcare following the commissioning of a three-unit classroom block and a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in the two communities.
The Member of Parliament for Akan Constituency, Hon. Engr. Yao Gomado, and the Kadjebi District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Dr. Sam Suraj Issaka, jointly commissioned the projects to improve access to essential services in the communities.

The classroom block is located at Yadzo, while the CHPS compound is at Menuso. The facilities are expected to improve teaching and learning and bring healthcare services closer to residents.
Speaking in an interview, Dr. Issaka said the District Assembly remained committed to improving infrastructure in education, healthcare, sanitation and water supply.
He explained that these sectors were among the Assembly’s priorities and assured residents that additional development projects were in the pipeline.

The DCE also said the government, led by President John Dramani Mahama, was committed to completing abandoned projects inherited from the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
He disclosed that the CHPS compound at Menuso had been abandoned since 2018 under the previous administration but had now been completed and commissioned for use.
For his part, Mr. Gomado highlighted the importance of decentralisation in extending development to deprived communities that had struggled to access essential infrastructure.
He said the decentralised system of governance provided an opportunity to address local development needs and improve the living conditions of residents.

The MP also pledged to monitor the use of the District Assemblies Common Fund to ensure that resources were directed towards projects that would benefit the people.
He assured constituents that he would work with the relevant authorities to support more development initiatives in the district under the NDC government.
The Kadjebi District Health Director, Mr. Eric Nana Takyi, welcomed the new CHPS compound, describing it as a long-awaited facility that would help reduce pressure on healthcare services in the surrounding communities.

He said the facility would improve access to basic healthcare and reduce the difficulties residents faced in seeking medical attention.
However, Mr. Takyi identified several challenges confronting healthcare delivery in the district and appealed for further government intervention.
He noted that many communities still lacked health facilities, while inadequate residential accommodation for health workers continued to affect staff retention.

He also cited a shortage of health personnel as another major challenge facing the district. The Chief of Yadzo, Torgbe Agbala III, expressed gratitude to the MP and the DCE for providing the new three-unit classroom block.
He said the facility would provide additional classroom space and help reduce overcrowding in existing classrooms.

The chief, however, appealed for furniture to enable the school to make full use of the new block and provide a more conducive learning environment for pupils.
The commissioning of the two projects is expected to improve access to education and healthcare in Yadzo, Menuso and their surrounding communities.
