THE National Democratic Congress (NDC) will hold its constituency executive elections on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25, 2026, across the country’s 276 constituencies.

The party’s General Secretary, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey, announced this at a press conference at the NDC national headquarters, the J.J. Rawlings House, in Accra.
He said the elections form part of the party’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its structures and promote internal democracy.
According to him, the reorganisation process began with membership registration, followed by the exhibition and validation of the membership register. The party subsequently organised branch executive elections in more than 40,600 branches nationwide.

Mr. Kwetey disclosed that 16,468 aspirants picked nomination forms to contest various constituency executive positions. Of that number, 15,049 successfully filed their nominations, while 1,419 applications remained in draft form. About 370 records were also identified as incomplete.
He said female aspirants account for 16 per cent of the total applicants.
Under the approved timetable, 265 constituencies, representing 96 per cent of the total, will hold their elections on Saturday, October 24, while the remaining 11 constituencies will vote on Sunday, October 25.
The Electoral Commission (EC) will supervise the elections, with support from constituency election committees.
Mr. Kwetey described the exercise as an important test of the party’s commitment to democratic principles, stressing that its internal processes must reflect the standards it promotes in national governance.
“As a governing party, we recognise that our conduct must reflect the democratic standards we uphold in public life,” he said.

On the controversy involving the headmaster of a secondary technical school who is reportedly a member of the NDC, Mr. Kwetey reiterated the party’s call for an independent investigation by the appropriate law enforcement authorities.
He said the party would not interfere with the investigation and would allow the facts to determine the outcome.
“We will not interfere. We want the truth to be brought out. This party will not condone wrongdoing. If he is found guilty, he should face the full consequences. If he is not guilty, we will be happy for him,” he stated.
The General Secretary further disclosed that the constituency elections would be followed by regional executive elections as the party continues with the next phase of its internal reorganisation.
