THE MEMBER of Parliament for Salaga-South, Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has donated 200 streetlights to improve security and enhance economic activity in her constituency.
The installation, which has already begun in parts of Salaga township, is expected to address long-standing concerns over poor visibility at night, an issue residents say has contributed to rising crime and frequent road accidents.
Speaking during the rollout, the Director of Special Projects at the MP’s Office, Mr. Mustapha Nafiu, said the initiative reflects the MP’s strong commitment to tackling community safety challenges.

He also assured residents that the project will soon be expanded to cover other communities within the constituency.
“This initiative is aimed at improving security, reducing crime, and making our streets safer for residents and visitors alike,” Mr. Nafiu said.
Residents have lauded the intervention, describing it as timely and much needed. Some noted that beyond curbing theft and accidents, the improved lighting will encourage traders and small business owners to operate beyond daylight hours.

“This is something we’ve been hoping for,” a resident shared. “It gives us the confidence to move around at night.”
The donation adds to a series of development projects being championed by Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, who has consistently prioritized infrastructure and services that improve the quality of life for her constituents.
