GHANA’S High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, H.E. Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, is leading efforts to increase Ghana’s exports to the UK market.

H. E. SABAH ZITA BENSON.

On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, she met with the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Francis Kojo Kwarteng Arthur Esq. to discuss practical steps to promote Made-in-Ghana products abroad.

A major focus of their meeting was the proposal to set up a Ghana Trade House in London. This Trade House would serve as a warehouse and distribution centre for Ghanaian goods.

This is expected to give exporters direct access to African shops and retailers in the UK. The move is expected to reduce the role of middlemen, cut costs, and improve visibility for Ghanaian products.

They also explored plans to create a permanent product display shelf at the Ghana High Commission in London. This shelf would act as a mini showroom to showcase local products, attract buyers, and promote Ghana’s creativity and innovation.

The two also discussed GEPA’s upcoming Garment and Fashion Fair, aimed at promoting Ghana’s textile and fashion industry on the global stage.

H.E. Zita Benson praised Mr. Kwateng Arthur, CEO, GEPA for his forward-thinking initiatives and pledged her full support for the Trade House project. She described it as a vital step in creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and increasing foreign exchange earnings for the country.

The meeting ended with a tour of GEPA’s Made-in-Ghana shop, where the High Commissioner was shown a range of beautifully packaged export-ready products such as corn dough, cassava dough, shrimp powder, yam chips, spices, kebab seasoning, handbags, jewellery, footwear, and locally made drinks.
