GCB BANK PLC has introduced a dedicated Hajj Savings Account, designed to help Muslim customers plan and save toward undertaking the holy pilgrimage to Mecca.
The product was officially launched at a brief but significant ceremony, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to inclusive and faith-sensitive financial services.
With a minimum opening balance of just GHS 50, the new account offers a safe and structured way for prospective pilgrims to gradually accumulate the needed funds over time.
It is also aimed at protecting customers from the financial risks and exploitation often associated with unregulated Hajj travel agents.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Sina Kamagate, Executive Head of Retail Banking at GCB Bank, said the initiative reflects the bank’s ongoing efforts to align its products with the diverse needs of its customers.
“This is not just a savings account—it is a commitment to help our Muslim brothers and sisters fulfill one of the most sacred pillars of their faith,” Mr. Kamagate said.
“….We believe in responsible banking, and this is part of our promise to offer products that are ethical, inclusive, and supportive of our customers’ values.”
The Hajj Savings Account will come with added benefits such as dedicated advisory services, convenient deposit options, and partnerships with certified Hajj agents to ensure transparency and ease of access for all account holders.
The launch of the account is timely, as Ghana’s Muslim population continues to grow in both size and economic participation.
This initiative positions GCB Bank as a leader in ethical finance and responds directly to the increasing demand for Sharia-compliant or faith-aligned financial products.
With this launch, GCB Bank not only strengthens its relationship with Ghana’s Muslim community but also expands its suite of purpose-driven financial products tailored to life’s most meaningful journeys.

This day is endearing to all of us because GCB has always remained an inclusive bank,” he said. “Today, what you have witnessed is a further demonstration of how inclusive and responsible our banking solutions are.”
The account requires a minimum balance of just GHS 50, enabling customers to build savings gradually for Hajj or Umrah.
