GHANA’S High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, H.E. Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, has held high-level talks with the leadership of the Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) on how to make banking more accessible to Ghanaians living abroad.
The meeting, according to a post by the High Commissioner on her official handle ghanainukhighcommissioner, focused on creating tailor-made financial products for the diaspora community in the UK and beyond.

“I met with the leadership of Consolidated Bank of Ghana (CBG) on how to make banking accessible to the Diaspora. We discussed individual account, business account, retirement plans for people in the Diaspora and other great portfolios for Ghanaians in the Diaspora,” she wrote.
The talks covered key areas including opening of individual and business accounts from abroad, diaspora retirement planning, investment portfolios, and other banking services that would allow Ghanaians in the UK to save, invest and do business back home seamlessly.

Mrs. Benson, who is Ghana’s first female High Commissioner to the UK since independence, expressed delight at the gender composition of the CBG top management.
“I was happy to note that the top leadership of CBG are three beautiful women, making waves,” she added.
The engagement forms part of the High Commissioner’s broader economic diplomacy drive to shift the diaspora narrative beyond remittances to investment, innovation and direct participation in Ghana’s economy – a call she made recently at the Asante Business Summit in London.

Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG), a wholly state-owned bank, has in recent years been positioning itself as a bank for SMEs and the diaspora market, with products aimed at facilitating foreign direct investment.
The High Commission says further details on the new CBG diaspora packages will be announced soon.
