THE PILGRIMS Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has expressed profound gratitude to the general public, prospective pilgrims, accredited Hajj agents, the media and all stakeholders for the smooth conduct of the ongoing mandatory medical screening for Hajj 2027.

In a press release issued on 10th October 2026, from the Hajj Village at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra, and signed by the Communications Directorate under Mohammed Amin Lamptey, PAOG said the exercise has so far been successful.

The Office used the opportunity to remind the public, especially those directly involved in the screening, that it has developed stringent medical criteria for rejection specifically tailored for the Ghana Hajj Mission for the 2027 pilgrimage.

According to PAOG, the criteria were developed to address key health concerns raised by the Saudi Ministry of Health, while ensuring that all prospective pilgrims are medically fit and capable of safely performing the various rituals of Hajj.

“These measures are intended to safeguard the health and well-being of Ghanaian pilgrims and contribute to a safer and more fulfilling Hajj experience,” the statement said.

PAOG explained that the early medical screening is to give prospective pilgrims ample time to know their health status and, where necessary, to be referred for early treatment.

The Office assured that upon re-evaluation, those who are found fit after treatment will be given the opportunity to participate in the 2027 Hajj.

The 2027 Hajj medical screening is mandatory for all prospective pilgrims as part of preparations ahead of next year’s pilgrimage to Mecca.
