THE MUNICIPAL Chief Executive (MCE) for Okaikwei North, Hon. Christian Tetteh Badger, has expressed concern about persistent challenges with street lighting and sanitation in the municipality.

Speaking at a recent meeting of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in Accra, Hon. Badger disclosed that the assembly has installed 342 streetlights in collaboration with assembly members and technical teams across all eleven electoral areas.

He said however, that key sections of the N1 highway, especially from Pimples Roundabout through Akweteyman to Ashawo Market Junction and onward to Kata, still lack adequate lighting.

To tackle this, five contractors have been engaged to fix streetlights along various critical stretches, including Pimples Roundabout to GIMPA and from Achimota Police Station to the new terminal overhead bridge. Further installations are expected along the Apenkwa–Neoplan–Nsawam corridor.

Hon. MCE, Christian Tetteh Badger also acknowledged support from the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North, Hon. Theresa Lardi Awuni, who has secured 300 additional streetlights for the area.
