Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, former Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana in the National Democratic Congress, NDC regime has launched Ghc8.2m project that will strengthen the grassroots of the party.
The project dubbed, “Ahoto” was launched at the NDC National Headquarters in the Greater Accra Region, with the support of the echelons of the party led by the National Chairman, Hon Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo.
The project is a business, worth Ghc8.2m to raise funds for the day-to-day running of the party activities at grassroots levels in the 275/6 Constituencies across the country.
About 100 plastic chairs, Canopies, Public Address (PA) System, amongst other items were available for the constituency and were presented to the NDC party during the launch to mark the commitment of Dr. Kwabena Duffour to the party.
The Constituencies are expected to rent out the items to the public to raise funds for the running of their constituencies.
The Ahoto Project is more of a Welfare Scheme the business mogul, Dr. Duffuor has put together to help the party in their activities; especially now that the party is embarking on reorganisation and registration of new members.
He handed over the scheme to the NDC hierarchy and was received by the General Secretary Hon. Johnson Asiedu Nketia, afectionately called General Mosquito.
Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, who was also the country’s renowned Finance Minister in NDC era indicated that the move was to encourage the party to snatch power from the deceitful and failed ruling NPP led by insensitive President Akufo-Addo.
He iterated that it was his wish that the party at the grassroot levels would have the needed logistics to empower them in the party activities towards elections 2024.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia, NDC General Secretary lauded the move by the NDC guru and business mogul to support the party.
He explained that anything brought to party at the grassroots level are not personal properties of the executive at any point in time; but caretakers and that must be noted.
He described the project as first of it kind and it will go a long way to help the party a lot at the grassroots level.
