GHANA’S High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Ireland, Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, has called on the Ghanaian community to uphold unity, compassion, and faith as they celebrate the Christmas season.
She made the appeal during a festive Nine Lessons and Carols service attended by Ghanaians and friends of Ghana in London.
Mrs. Benson praised the Church of Pentecost UK and Ghana Christian Council UK for their dedication in hosting the annual event, describing it as an important moment for Ghanaians abroad to come together, strengthen bonds, and reflect on the blessings of the year.
She noted that the Ghanaian community in the UK and Ireland continues to demonstrate strong values of togetherness, family, and faith—qualities that remain essential during challenging times.

According to her, this year’s theme, “A Season of Unity and Hope,” reflects the spirit that keeps the diaspora resilient and connected.
The High Commissioner highlighted efforts by the Ghana High Commission throughout the year, including strengthening relations with the Ghanaian diaspora, improving service delivery, and promoting Ghana’s cultural heritage.
She expressed gratitude for the support and cooperation shown by Ghanaians living abroad and reaffirmed the Mission’s commitment to serving them with dedication.
Reflecting on the message of Christmas, Mrs. Benson drew on the words of the prophet Isaiah:
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light.”
She explained that the light of Christ brings renewed hope and peace, offering comfort and direction even in uncertain times.

Mrs. Benson encouraged the community to carry the spirit of Christmas into the new year by showing kindness, supporting the youth, caring for the elderly, and offering help to those in need. She urged Ghanaians to be “a light to one another,” keeping alive the warmth, generosity, and joy that define the season.
She concluded by wishing the entire Ghanaian community in the UK and Ireland a peaceful Christmas and a new year filled with unity, hope, and God’s blessings.
