THE 2025 South Tongu Ghana Teacher Prize Awards Ceremony has been held at the Global Evangelical Church, Sogakope – Solution Parish, on the theme “Elevating the Status of Teachers for Quality Education in South Tongu.”
In his address, Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor, Member of Parliament for South Tongu, expressed concern about the recent poor WASSCE results. He called for stronger supervision in schools, stricter discipline, and the integration of modern ICT tools to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
Reaffirming his commitment to education in the constituency, the MP outlined several scholarship initiatives he has introduced for brilliant but needy students, including additional support through national scholarship schemes. He further announced that all award-winning teachers who wish to further their education will receive full scholarships from his office.
As part of his support for the ceremony, Hon. Lukutor donated GHC 30,000 to aid the organisation of the 2025 Teacher Prize Awards. He also presented a special cash award to the 2nd Runner-Up of the National Teachers’ Award, commending the teacher for bringing honour to the district.

Hon. Lukutor praised teachers for their dedication and described teaching as a highly respected profession that plays a central role in national development. He also cautioned the public against recruitment scams, stressing that he has not authorised anyone to collect money or forms for placement into the security services during the ongoing recruitment by the Ministry of the Interior.
The District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, thanked teachers for their vital role in shaping the district’s human resource potential and encouraged them to continue raising disciplined and responsible young citizens.
The District Director of Education, Mrs. Celestine S. A. Korsi-Agordo, also commended teachers and stakeholders for their continuous efforts toward improving education in the South Tongu District.
The ceremony drew a large gathering of teachers, education stakeholders, and community members. Dignitaries present included the MP, Hon. Maxwell Kwame Lukutor; the District Chief Executive, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo; and the District Director of Education, Mrs. Celestine S. A. Korsi-Agordo.
