AN ASPIRANT for the position of National Deputy Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joshua Sika Nartey, has pledged to introduce a new and strategic approach to party communication to help the ruling party retain power in the 2028 general elections.
He said the NDC must move beyond traditional political messaging and adopt a more proactive, coordinated and fact-based communication strategy to promote the achievements of President John Dramani Mahama’s government and strengthen public support for the Resetting Ghana Agenda.

Speaking to Nationaltymes.com in an interview in Accra, Mr. Sija Nartey said retaining power in 2028 would require early preparation, effective messaging and better coordination among the party’s communicators at all levels.
“Retaining power is more difficult than winning power. We need a different strategic approach in 2028. We need to be more strategic, more coordinated and more aggressive in telling the NDC story, from the branch level to the national level,” he said.
According to him, the government’s policies and achievements provide the party with enough information to communicate its record to the public and respond effectively to criticism from the opposition.
“Thank God President Mahama’s government is doing so well, so we have a lot of verifiable information and achievements to use against our main opponents who have nothing to show,” he pointed out.
Mr. Sika Nartey outlined three key areas of his proposed strategy: improving the party’s communication system, equipping regional and constituency communicators with the necessary training and logistics, and using data-driven, youth-focused digital campaigns to counter opposition messages.

He said the NDC could no longer afford to wait for its opponents to set the political agenda before responding, stressing the need for the party to communicate its policies and achievements early, consistently and with facts.
He also emphasised the importance of improving the welfare of party communicators, arguing that providing them with the necessary support would strengthen their ability to defend the government and promote the party’s message.
“My vision as National Deputy Communications Officer is to support the National Communications Officer to build a formidable, disciplined and well-resourced communications front that will make the NDC’s achievements more visible and defend the government at all times,” he assured.

Mr. Joshua Sika Nartey appealed to delegates to support his candidature, promising to work with party leaders, communicators and other stakeholders to protect the NDC’s image and improve its chances of securing victory in the 2028 elections.
He said his campaign was anchored on unity, innovation and strategic communication, adding that a well-organised communication team would be crucial to the party’s efforts to retain power.
