THE Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Armah Kofi Buah, has met with the leadership of Shandong Gold Group at its headquarters in Jinan, China, to explore opportunities for stronger cooperation in sustainable mining and resource management.

The meeting focused on ways to promote responsible mining practices and deepen collaboration between Ghana and the Chinese mining giant.

Mr Buah commended Shandong Gold for its environmental practices, particularly its efforts in large-scale land rehabilitation, tree planting and worker safety.

He said Ghana was interested in adopting modern and environmentally friendly approaches that could help minimise the impact of mining activities on the environment.

The Minister also encouraged the company to increase its use of advanced green technologies, including electric mining vehicles, to reduce emissions and the environmental footprint of mining operations.

According to him, Ghana remained committed to protecting its natural resources while promoting responsible investments that could contribute to economic growth and sustainable development.

Mr Buah said Ghana was ready to deepen its partnership with Shandong Gold on a mutually beneficial basis.
He further invited the company to consider Ghana as a strategic hub for expanding its operations and investments across the African continent.

The engagement forms part of Ghana’s efforts to attract responsible investments and promote sustainable mining practices that balance economic development with environmental protection.
