
THE GREATER Accra Regional Secretariat of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) has successfully held a two-day orientation for caterers to strengthen their capacity in nutrition, hygiene, and food safety practices.
The first session was held on 18th August 2025 at the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) auditorium, and the second on 19th August at Chemu Secondary School, Community 4 – Tema.

The orientation focused on four key areas:
1) Improving Catering Practices & Hygiene – Caterers received training on food handling, storage, and preparation techniques to ensure the health and safety of pupils.
2) Promoting Nutritious Meals – Balanced meals were emphasized as essential for pupil concentration, energy, and academic success.

3) Boosting Agriculture & Job Creation – Caterers were encouraged to source ingredients from local farmers, supporting rural livelihoods and stimulating agricultural growth.
4) Encouraging Education – Quality school meals were highlighted as a strategy to increase enrolment and attendance in public basic schools.

Madam Jessica Patience Braimah, Regional GSFP Coordinator, commended the caterers for their active participation and renewed commitment to delivering quality meals.
She also expressed appreciation to the National Coordinator, Hajia Fati Forgo, for the support and leadership in organizing the programme.

Madam Jessica Braimah reiterated the GSFP’s goal of building a strong, efficient, and sustainable system that not only nourishes children but also supports national development.
