VICE PRESIDENT Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has called on the Office of the Registrar of Companies to accelerate efforts to register more businesses, stressing that bringing more enterprises into the formal economy is critical to driving Ghana’s economic growth, creating jobs and expanding opportunities for entrepreneurs.
She made the call on Tuesday when a delegation from the Office paid a courtesy call on her at the Jubilee House to brief her on ongoing reforms aimed at making business registration faster, simpler and more accessible across the country.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang described the Office as a key institution in government’s drive to build a stronger private sector and improve the country’s business environment.

“I commend the Office of the Registrar of Companies for its commitment to improving Ghana’s business environment. Your work provides the foundation for businesses to grow and succeed,” she said.
The Vice President urged the Office to intensify efforts to cut bureaucracy by simplifying, digitising and decentralising business registration, particularly to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), women and young entrepreneurs.
She emphasised that every Ghanaian with a viable business idea should be able to register a business easily, quickly and at an affordable cost.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang also called for stronger public education on the Office’s services and reforms, saying many business owners are still unaware of the benefits of formal registration.

According to her, sustained public awareness and transparency will encourage more businesses to move from the informal sector into the formal economy, strengthen public confidence and improve compliance.
The delegation assured the Vice President of its commitment to expanding digital services, extending its presence across the regions and stepping up public education to make business registration more accessible nationwide.
The engagement forms part of government’s broader agenda to create a business-friendly environment that enables entrepreneurs to register, operate and grow their businesses with confidence.
