THE KRACHI East Divisional Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has arrested a man for allegedly impersonating an aide to the Member of Parliament (MP) for Krachi East and defrauding people with false promises of recruitment into the security services.
The suspect, identified as Emmanuel Tala, is alleged to have used the name of the Krachi East MP, Nelson Kofi Jabab, to convince residents that he could secure them positions in various state security agencies in exchange for money.
Police sources said the suspect was arrested at the Dambai market following a tip-off. His arrest came after a complaint was lodged by Madam Antoinette Agorsah, who alleged that her family paid money to the suspect after he presented himself as a representative of the MP.
According to the police, the suspect is currently in custody and assisting with investigations into alleged impersonation and fraud.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a number of residents may have fallen victim to the scheme. However, the exact number of victims and the total amount of money involved have not yet been determined.
Police sources indicated that Emmanuel Tala will be arraigned before court after investigations are completed.
The Ghana Police Service has on several occasions cautioned the public against recruitment scams, stressing that enlistment into the security services is conducted only through officially advertised and transparent processes, and not through middlemen or agents.
