ABLA DZIFA Gomashie, Minister of Tourism and Culture has highlighted the rich cultural and tourism potential of Gwollu and the Sissala West District during her working visit to the Upper West Region.

As part of her familiarisation tour, the Tourism Minister visited the mausoleum and family home of former President Hilla Limann in Gwollu, where she paid tribute to the latofformer President and stressed the need to preserve his legacy for future generations.

During the tour, the Minister inspected several heritage and tourism sites in the area, including the famous traditional bone-setting centre at Bullu, the sacred crocodile pond in Gwollu, the chief’s palace and other historical landmarks that reflect the rich traditions and history of the people.

Hon. Gomashie described the sites as important national assets that can help promote domestic tourism, create jobs and support local economic growth if properly developed and maintained.

She noted that Ghana’s tourism industry goes beyond beaches and festivals, adding that communities with unique history, culture and traditional knowledge also have strong potential to attract visitors from across the country and beyond.

The Minister further reaffirmed government’s commitment to protecting and promoting the heritage of former President Limann while working to develop tourism infrastructure in communities with strong cultural value.

Residents and traditional leaders in the area welcomed the visit and expressed hope that greater attention to the district’s tourism potential would bring more development opportunities to the people.
