THE National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Oti Region has vetted 46 aspirants seeking various regional executive positions, with two disqualified for failing to meet the party’s eligibility requirements.

The vetting exercise, chaired by Dr. William Ahadzie, forms part of the party’s preparations for its regional executive elections.
The Oti Regional Communications Officer of the NDC, Mubarak Karim aka Diplomatic, said the exercise was conducted in a fair, transparent and credible manner.
He explained that the two aspirants – Phillip Yaw Sambo and one other, were disqualified after failing to meet the requirements outlined in the party’s guidelines for the elections.
Mr. Karim expressed confidence in the vetting committee, describing its members as credible and experienced individuals capable of carrying out the exercise without bias.
Dr. Ahadzie, meanwhile, disclosed that the disqualified aspirants have the right to appeal against the decision if they are dissatisfied with the outcome.
He said they could petition the national leadership of the party to review the decision.
In a related development, the Oti Regional Women Organiser of the NDC, Madam Paulina Magyam, has urged women to take a more active role in politics and compete for leadership positions.
She said women should not limit themselves to traditional domestic roles but should take advantage of opportunities to serve in political leadership.
“Women are not only meant for the kitchen. We can equally compete with men and hold big political positions,” she stated.
Madam Magyam also advised women to avoid politics of insults and instead focus on their competence, ideas and contributions to the development of the party and the country.

Dr. Ahadzie has also cautioned aspirants against using divisive language as they prepare to campaign for their preferred positions.
He reminded them that the NDC is bigger than any individual and urged them to ensure that their campaign messages promote unity and reflect the party’s values.
He further stressed the need for discipline, respect and proper conduct throughout the internal electoral process.
The vetting of the 46 aspirants marks an important step towards the NDC’s regional executive elections in the Oti Region, as the party prepares to elect leaders to steer its affairs and strengthen its structures.
