PRESIDENT John Dramani Mahama is in Libreville, Gabon, taking part in the first Libreville International Forum for Innovation and Development, a major event focused on technology and economic growth in Africa.
The forum, hosted by Gabon’s President Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, has brought together African leaders, investors, and technology experts. Discussions are centered on how stable governance, a strong business climate, and artificial intelligence can support development across the continent.
According to the Spokesperson to President Mahama and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the gathering also marks the official opening of the Omar Bongo Ondimba Congress Centre, a new conference facility expected to boost international events and innovation in Central Africa.
In a statement issued in Jubilee House, Accra, President Mahama’s participation highlights Ghana’s interest in building partnerships that promote digital growth and create jobs. He is expected to encourage closer cooperation between governments and the private sector.
At the end of the forum, leaders are set to adopt the Libreville Declaration, which focuses on improving governance, strengthening transparency, and advancing digital transformation in Africa. Organizers say the forum signals Gabon’s plan to position itself as a key destination for innovation and investment.
“President Mahama remains committed to partnerships that link government policy with private-sector growth for inclusive development,” said Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson to the President.
The one-day event is being held today at the Omar Bongo Ondimba Congress Centre, he added.
