DR. HASSAN Ayariga, founder and leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), has commended President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their effective economic management, which has led to the stabilization of the Ghanaian cedi.

He indicated that this achievement has provided significant relief to importers, traders, entrepreneurs, and consumers across the country.
In a statement shared on his social media platforms, Dr. Ayariga highlighted the importance of reflecting the cedi’s strength in the pricing of goods and services. He called on Ghanaian business owners, particularly those in the retail and wholesale sectors, to adjust their prices accordingly, ensuring that the benefits of a stronger currency are felt by all citizens.
“It is both fair and necessary that the benefits of a stronger cedi translate into reduced prices of goods and services across the market,” Dr. Ayariga stated. “This is not only an act of patriotism but a demonstration of solidarity with the Ghanaian people who have endured economic hardships.”
Dr. Ayariga’s remarks align with recent appeals from Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, who urged traders to reduce prices to reflect the cedi’s appreciation.
The Minister noted that the government’s fiscal discipline and sound economic policies have contributed to the currency’s stability, and it is imperative that these gains benefit the broader population.
Furthermore, the Ghana Union of Traders’ Associations (GUTA) has acknowledged the cedi’s improved performance, attributing it to prudent management by the Bank of Ghana and the government’s commitment to fiscal responsibility.

GUTA emphasized that the currency’s resilience has restored stability and predictability for importers and traders, who have long grappled with currency volatility and rising operational costs.
Dr. Hassan Ayariga concluded by urging all stakeholders to work collaboratively in building an economy that is strong, inclusive, and equitable. He emphasized that collective action is essential in ensuring that the positive economic indicators translate into tangible benefits for every Ghanaian.
