A CIVIL marriage certificate has established Yusif Yunusah as the husband of the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor, with the marriage recorded in Accra on December 30, 2022.
The official document provides a formal record of the union between Mr. Yunusah and the MP, bringing clarity to an aspect of Hon. Okunor’s personal life that has largely remained outside the focus of her public and political activities.

According to the marriage certificate, the couple entered into a civil marriage under Ghana’s marriage laws. The union has since been blessed with a child, adding a personal dimension to the life of the legislator, who has been in the public spotlight through her political career.
For a public figure such as Hon. Okunor, information about her personal life can attract public interest. However, such information must be presented on the basis of verifiable records rather than speculation, rumours or unconfirmed accounts.
The marriage certificate therefore provides the principal documentary basis for reporting on the union and establishes December 30, 2022, as the date of the marriage.
The document also makes an important distinction between a formally registered marriage and claims that may circulate without supporting evidence.
While the certificate confirms the marriage, it does not, by itself, establish details about the couple’s private circumstances, conduct, relationship or other personal affairs beyond what is contained in the official record.

Such claims, if made, would require separate evidence and independent verification. That distinction is particularly important in an era when information about public figures can quickly spread through social media.
Responsible journalism requires that documented facts be separated from assumptions and unverified claims.
The marriage of Yusif Yunusah and Hon. Okunor therefore represents a documented chapter in the MP’s personal life, separate from her political career and public responsibilities.
For Mr. Yunusah, the certificate formally connects his name to that of the MP through a civil union dating back to December 2022.
The central fact established by the record remains straightforward: Yusif Yunusah and Hon. Phillis Naa Koryoo Okunor entered into a civil marriage in Accra on December 30, 2022.
Any further reporting on their relationship, political influence or personal affairs should be supported by additional and independently verifiable evidence.
