THE PILGRIMS Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has urged intending Ghanaian pilgrims for the 2027 Hajj to fast-track payment of their fares to avoid last-minute challenges.
The official fare for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage from Ghana remains GH¢60,000, the same amount charged for the 2026 Hajj.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, the Director of Communications of PAOG, Mohammed Amin Lamptey Hussein, said registration and payment for the 2027 pilgrimage commenced on August 12, 2026, and would be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis until Ghana’s allocated quota is exhausted.
He therefore urged prospective pilgrims to complete their payments and submit all required documents early to secure their places and avoid unnecessary difficulties. Mr Lamptey Hussein also cautioned intending pilgrims against making payments through unapproved channels.
He said PAOG would not be responsible for transactions conducted outside the authorised payment arrangements. According to him, all payments must be made only to PAOG-accredited Hajj agents or directly into the official PAOG account using the approved codes through Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) accounts managed by the Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana.
He further stressed that no partial payment would be accepted, urging intending pilgrims to ensure that the full GH¢60,000 fare is paid through the approved channels.
The Communications Directorate said the reminder was intended to help pilgrims complete the payment and registration process early and avoid difficulties as the allocated quota gradually fills up.
