THE GHANA National Association of Farmers and Fishermen (GNAFF) has issued a strong statement condemning comments made by the General Secretary of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Dr. David Tenkorang Twum, during an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen.

According to GNAFF, Dr. Twum made “derogatory and unprintable remarks” about the Minister of Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and launched an “unprovoked verbal attack” on farmers. GNAFF described the comments as shocking, disrespectful, and unbecoming of a professional leader.

“As the mother body of farmers and fishermen across the country, GNAFF condemns in the strongest possible terms such abusive words… expected to conduct himself with decorum and respect,” the statement read.

Highlighting the vital role of farmers and fishermen in Ghana’s economic survival, food security, and national development, GNAFF called the comments “disheartening” and “unacceptable.”

LLM PRESIDENT, MICHAEL TETTEH KWETEY.

The association has given Dr. Tenkorang Twum a 24-hour ultimatum to retract the remarks and issue an unqualified apology to all farmers and fishermen in Ghana. Failure to do so, it says, will prompt further action to protect the dignity and integrity of its members.

“We call on all well-meaning Ghanaians to continue to respect the sacrifices and contributions of farmers and fishermen who remain the lifeline of our national development,” the statement concluded.

Signed: Abutu Kapori (PhD), General Secretary
Michael Tetteh Kwetey (LL.M), President.
