L – R: DR. AWUSI & SABAH ZITA

THE CHIEF Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA), Dr. Mary Awusi, on 21st August 2025, warmly welcomed Ghana’s High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom and Ireland, H.E. Zita Sabah Benson, to the Authority’s head office in Accra.

Describing the visit as both historic and strategic, Dr. Awusi congratulated H.E. Benson on her appointment, inducating that she is the first woman to hold the High Commissioner role.

She expressed confidence that H.E. Zita Benson’s leadership will deepen Ghana–UK relations, particularly in the areas of trade, investment promotion, and diaspora partnerships.

During the meeting, GFZA’s Director of Marketing and Investment Promotion, Madam Anita Quashie, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the operations and impact of the Free Zones Scheme.

The presentation covered potential areas of collaboration with the High Commission, including:
– Sharing information on international trade fairs and exhibitions,
– Updates on global trade and investment policies,
– Supporting Ghanaian businesses to meet export standards, and
– Coordinating targeted marketing initiatives to attract UK-based investors.

H.E. Sabah Zita Benson commended the Authority for its proactive efforts and welcomed the opportunity for deeper cooperation. She emphasized the need for regular engagement between her office and GFZA, especially during international investment missions and promotional events.

The visit reiterated a shared commitment to enhancing Ghana’s competitiveness as a trade and investment hub. Both parties agreed to maintain close working relations to promote Ghana’s interests on the international stage.
