TRADITIONAL LEADERS from the Fievie Traditional Area have affirmed their commitment to collaborate with the South Tongu Municipal Assembly to address pressing developmental challenges and harness local opportunities.
During a courtesy call on the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Victoria Dzeklo, on Friday, May 9, 2025, the delegation of Chiefs and Queen Mothers highlighted critical issues requiring urgent intervention. These include:

- Infrastructure Deficits: Persistent lack of potable water, poor road networks, inadequate school infrastructure, and unreliable telecommunications services.
- Social Services: Shortage of teaching staff, incomplete electrification projects, and the need for upgraded health facilities, including a CHPS compound.
- Economic and Governance Priorities: Remittance of market tolls, collection of ground rents from companies operating on traditional lands, and the urgent need to reclaim encroached state lands. Emphasizing the area’s untapped agricultural potential, particularly in rice farming, the traditional leaders urged the assembly to prioritize investments in agribusiness to stimulate economic growth and job creation.
As custodians of the land, the Chiefs reaffirmed their dedication to supporting the Municipal Assembly in reclaiming state lands unlawfully occupied by private individuals. They stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to safeguard public assets for community development.

In a symbolic gesture of recognition, the Chiefs and Queen Mothers honored the MCE with a ceremonial decoration and bestowed upon her the stool name “Mama Sogakope Municipal I,” signifying her esteemed role as a champion of progress and development in the municipality.
In response, Hon. Victoria Dzeklo expressed gratitude for the delegation’s visit and assured them of the assembly’s commitment to addressing the outlined challenges. “The assembly recognizes the vital role of traditional leadership in grassroots development.

We are eager to strengthen this partnership to implement sustainable solutions that uplift every community in South Tongu,” the MCE stated.
The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their shared resolve to prioritize transparency, dialogue, and inclusive development in the municipality.
