
IN A SIGNIFICANT move to bolster local governance and accelerate grassroots development, His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama has nominated Hon. Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ayawaso East.
The announcement has been met with widespread enthusiasm, especially from members of the community who have long witnessed Mr. Ibrahim’s dynamic leadership and unwavering commitment to public service.

A proud native of Nima with deep roots in the constituency, Abdul Ganiyu Ibrahim aka Mallam Fari brings a wealth of experience to his new role. Currently pursuing a BSc in Development Communication, he also holds diplomas in Travel & Tourism, Business Studies, and Ticketing.
Professionally, he has served as the CEO of Iqra Travel & Tour Ltd. since 2014, while his political journey includes serving as the Assembly Member for the Videoland Electoral Area, Nima.

During his tenure, he spearheaded several community development initiatives, including the construction of classroom blocks, drainage systems and road infrastructure, as well as sponsoring health screenings and supporting educational needs across Ayawaso East.
In the political landscape, Ibrahim is a well-known figure within the National Democratic Congress (NDC), having served in multiple capacities – from Youth Organizer for the Zongo Caucus to a key member of the party’s finance and campaign committees.
