THE MINISTRY of Gender, Children and Social Protection (MoGCSP) has announced the rollout of the 94th and 95th cycles of the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) cash grant disbursement, beginning March 25, 2025.
Speaking at a press briefing on Friday, March 21, 2025, Hon Minister, Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey reaffirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to reducing poverty and vulnerability across Ghana.
She noted that under the 2025 Budget Statement, the number of LEAP beneficiary households has been increased from 350,000 to 400,000, reflecting President John Dramani Mahama’s dedication to expanding social protection.
In line with this expansion, the government has raised the LEAP budget allocation from GHS 728.8 million to GHS 953.5 million. For the upcoming double payment cycle, GHS 265.22 million has been released to support 350,000 households across all 260 Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs).
The joint disbursement covers the November – December 2024 (94th cycle) and January – February 2025 (95th cycle) periods. Payments will be made through the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlement Systems (GHIPSS) directly to beneficiaries’ E-Zwich accounts.
Payment Breakdown Per Household:
One eligible member: GHS 512.00
Two eligible members: GHS 608.00
Three eligible members: GHS 704.00
Four or more eligible members: GHS 848.00

Dr. Naa Momo Lartey stressed that LEAP remains a lifeline for extremely poor households with vulnerable members, including orphans and vulnerable children, persons with severe disabilities, the elderly (65+) and pregnant or lactating mothers with infants under one year.
She encouraged beneficiaries to use the funds for essential needs such as food, children’s education and income-generating activities.
To enhance the programme’s impact and ensure fairness, the Ministry has begun a comprehensive reassessment of beneficiary households. This initiative, supported by the Ghana National Household Registry (GNHR), will help identify new vulnerable households eligible for future support.
The Minister expressed appreciation to key development partners including the World Bank, UNICEF, the World Food Programme and the UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office for their sustained support in advancing Ghana’s social protection agenda.
Dr. Lartey concluded by calling on the media to help raise awareness, promote transparency and support accountability in the disbursement process.
She also announced plans to visit selected payment centers to directly engage with beneficiaries and monitor the grant distribution process.
