THE VOLTA Region Women’s Division One League is heating up and among the teams turning heads is Agave Glad Ladies – known not just for their passion on the pitch but also for their resilience in the face of serious challenges.
With six matches under their belt, the Agave-based side has recorded three wins, one draw and two losses – a performance their assistant secretary, Faith Senyo Tamekloe, describes as commendable.

“Our children did quite well, though the Anlo side has the upper hand over us,” she remarked, expressing pride in the team’s progress so far.
However, the journey hasn’t been easy. One of the biggest obstacles? Inconsistent training due to financial constraints. According to Tamekloe, many players struggle to make it to training camps because of transportation costs and logistical hurdles.
“Management is facing a lot of financial challenges conveying them from their various locations to camp houses,” she explained. “This lack of financial support hampers the team’s ability to train effectively, even though they still manage to compete.”
Despite these struggles, the team remains determined. “Should our girls have the same advantages as our counterparts, they would have set more records in the region as a whole,” Tamekloe stated confidently.

As they push toward qualifying for the middle league, Agave Glad Ladies is appealing to individuals, NGOs and corporate entities to step in with support. With the right backing, they believe they can level the playing field – and dominate it.
The Volta Region Women’s Division One League continues and the Agave Glad Ladies are holding on to their vision: a team that, with equal opportunity, could be truly unbeatable.
