WORK has started on a modern Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre of Excellence in Salaga. The project is expected to improve skills training and support economic growth in the Savannah Region.

The centre is being built by the Commission for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (CTVET) under the Ministry of Education. Its goal is to give young people practical skills that match today’s job market.

The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, recently visited the site to check how work is going. She said she is hopeful the project will help change the lives of young people in the area and nearby communities. The centre is expected to be completed by August 2026.

The facility will offer hands-on training instead of only classroom learning. Areas of training will include electrical installation, renewable energy, automotive technology, ICT, food processing, garment making, and woodworking.

The MP said the project will create opportunities, empower young people, and support Ghana’s industrial growth. She added that graduates from the centre will be ready for jobs and able to contribute to national development.

The project is a partnership between the Government of Ghana and De Lorenzo, an Italian technical company. The company is handling the design, construction, and installation of modern equipment.

As part of the plan, local teachers will also receive special training to manage and maintain the facility to high standards.

The centre is expected to help reduce unemployment and boost development in the Savannah Region. It has the support of traditional leaders, local authorities, and the Ministry of Education.

Project consultant Felix Boateng said work is about 25% complete and should be finished within eight months. He is confident the project will be ready and handed over between July and August 2026.
