VICE PRESIDENT Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to transforming its economy through local manufacturing and reduced reliance on imports.
Speaking on Tuesday while hosting a South Korean trade delegation from Hwaseong, led by the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), the Vice President said the government is focused on attracting investors who are willing to produce and manufacture within Ghana.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang noted that Ghana’s youthful population provides a strong workforce that can support large-scale manufacturing and industrial growth. She said strategic partnerships with foreign investors would help create jobs and strengthen the economy. “We are ready to move from being import-dependent to producing what we need locally,” she stated.
The Vice President praised South Korea’s success in areas such as fisheries training, research, and industrial development, and expressed Ghana’s interest in deepening cooperation, particularly in manufacturing and agribusiness.

According to her, the meeting was aimed at exploring new investment opportunities and strengthening economic ties between Ghana and South Korea. “Ghana is ready to manufacture, not just import,” Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized, underscoring the government’s vision for industrial growth and sustainable development.
