H.E. JOHN Dramani Mahama, has officially commissioned the Akweteman Central Mosque, fulfilling a major request made by the people of Akweteman.
The commissioning marks the completion of the mosque project, which began in 2024 after President Mahama and the NDC government cut the sod following appeals from residents of the area.
Speaking to the media, the Member of Parliament for Okaikwei North, Hon. Theresa Awuni Lardi, said President Mahama promised to build the mosque if he won the 2024 general elections. According to her, the President has kept that promise by completing the project within six months of assuming office.

Hon. Awuni Lardi described President Mahama as a leader who honours his word and said the mosque stands as clear evidence of his commitment to the people.
She also appealed to the Muslim community to continue praying for the President, asking Allah to grant him wisdom, good health, and strength as he works to develop the country.
