THE AMASAMAN Police Command in the Greater Accra Region has arrested Kojo Boadu, popularly known as Mark 2, for allegedly using the registered brand name and logos of Dr. Asiedu Amega Herbal Bitters without authorization.
The arrest followed a formal complaint filed by the Chief Executive Officer of Dr. Asiedu Amega Herbal Bitters, Mr. Albert Asiedu Boadu, who accused Mr. Boadu of illegally producing and marketing herbal bitters products under the “Amega” brand.
According to the complainant, the brand name and associated logos are legally registered and exclusively owned by his company. Police sources say the complaint was lodged approximately two months ago. Mr. Asiedu Boadu reportedly claimed that the alleged unauthorized products have caused confusion in the market, eroded consumer confidence, and raised potential public health concerns, as the products were not approved or sanctioned by his company.
It is further alleged that products including “Amega Plus One” and other variants are currently on the market, bearing a telephone number said to belong to an agent of Mark 2. The dispute between the two parties is believed to stem from a long-standing disagreement over ownership and usage rights of the “Amega” name within the herbal bitters industry.

Following the complaint, the Amasaman Police obtained a search warrant and conducted a search at Mr. Boadu’s facility as part of ongoing investigations. He was subsequently invited to the police station to assist with inquiries.
However, police sources allege that during his visit to the Amasaman Police Station, Mr. Boadu assaulted a Criminal Investigations Department (CID) officer identified as Mr. Gariba during an interaction with officers. The incident reportedly led to his immediate arrest.
As of the time of filing this report, police have not confirmed whether any items bearing the “Amega” brand were retrieved during the search.
Investigations are ongoing, and police say further updates will be communicated as the case progresses.
