GHANA’S High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, H.E. Mrs. Sabah Zita Benson, has called on investors to see Ghana not only as an investment destination but also as a platform to access markets across Africa and beyond.

She made the call on Thursday, September 10, 2026, when the Ghana High Commission in London hosted the Asante Business Summit – London International Leadership Roundtable 2026, founded by Oheneba Michael Osei Bonsu.

The high-level meeting brought together representatives of the Manhyia Palace, business leaders and investment stakeholders to explore opportunities for stronger economic cooperation.

Mrs. Benson called for closer collaboration among traditional institutions, government, the private sector and the Ghanaian diaspora to turn the country’s economic potential into jobs, skills and business opportunities.

She said government had a role to create an enabling environment, while traditional institutions could provide local connections and legitimacy. The private sector, she noted, could bring capital and innovation, while the diaspora could provide international networks and access to markets.

“When these strengths are aligned around credible projects and transparent structures, the possibilities are substantial,” she said.

The High Commissioner said Ghana needed investments that create jobs, develop skills, strengthen local businesses and increase the country’s capacity to produce competitively.

She assured investors that the Ghana High Commission, through its economic diplomacy mandate, would help connect them with credible investment opportunities in Ghana.

Mrs. Benson also highlighted the importance of Kumasi and the Ashanti Region as historic centres of commerce and entrepreneurship, stressing that development in any part of Ghana contributes to the country’s overall progress.

“When investment succeeds in Kumasi, Accra, Tamale, Takoradi, Ho, Sunyani or any other part of the country, Ghana succeeds,” she said.

She further urged the Ghanaian diaspora in the UK to look beyond remittances and consider investment and innovation as important ways of contributing to Ghana’s development.

With Ghana hosting the AfCFTA Secretariat, Mrs. Benson said investors should consider the country as a base from which to produce, innovate and expand into markets across Africa and beyond.

She also referred to the recent United Nations General Assembly adoption of the “Correct the Map” resolution, which highlights Africa’s true size, urging investors to recognise the scale of opportunities available on the continent.

“See the scale of the opportunity. See how far an investment made in Ghana can potentially reach,” she told participants. She urged the participants to use the summit to build meaningful partnerships and deliver tangible results for Asanteman and Ghana as a whole.

The main summit is expected to take place from 19-22 November at Kumasi  in Ashanti Region.
