THE La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly (LaDMA) has taken a major step to improve environmental health in the municipality with the donation of three motorbikes to its Environmental Health Department.

The motorbikes were presented by the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei, and formally received by the Head of the Environmental Health Department in the presence of the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Akweley Ocloo.
The three jungle motorbikes, valued at GH¢62,300, are expected to strengthen the department’s work by making it easier for environmental health officers to monitor sanitation conditions, enforce sanitation by-laws, and respond quickly to environmental health concerns across the municipality.
Speaking at the presentation, Hon. Alfredos Nii Anyetei said the donation forms part of the Assembly’s commitment to keeping La Dade-Kotopon clean and healthy. He noted that proper sanitation is key to preventing diseases and improving the quality of life of residents.
“This donation is a boost to our efforts to keep the municipality clean and healthy,” the MCE stated. He told the media that the Assembly will continue to support departments that play a critical role in safeguarding public health.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Akweley Ocloo, encouraged the Environmental Health Department to use the motorbikes responsibly and ensure they are well maintained so they can serve the municipality for a long time.
She also urged other Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to learn from LaDMA’s example by equipping their departments with the necessary tools to improve service delivery.
Hon. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, Deputy Minister of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs and Member of Parliament for the area, also joined the clean-up exercise to show her support.

She called on residents to actively participate in keeping their surroundings clean to promote good health, especially as the Christmas season approaches.
The donation is part of a wider clean-up campaign being carried out by the Assembly to promote environmental cleanliness and enforce local sanitation by-laws.
The exercise, which continued from last Saturday, the National Sanitation Day, involves all departments of the Assembly, including NADMO, Assembly Members, and other stakeholders, and is expected to end on Friday, December 19, 2025.

As part of efforts to ensure safety during the festive season, Hon. Linda Akweley Ocloo reiterated her commitment to fixing faulty street lights across Accra. She said well-lit streets will help prevent crime and improve security for residents and visitors during the Christmas celebrations.
Residents and officials have praised the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly for its proactive approach, calling for more initiatives to strengthen environmental health and sanitation in the municipality.
