SPEAKING AT the commemoration of the June 4th uprising, NDC National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia has called on Ghanaians to embrace the spirit of accountability as the foundation for resetting the nation.
He stressed that the legacy of June 4th must inspire a new era of responsible leadership and civic vigilance.
Addressing party members, traditional leaders, and supporters, Hon. Asiedu Nketia highlighted the parallels between the political climate of 1979 and today’s challenges.

He asserted that the spirit of June 4th calls for a national “reset”—a recommitment to holding leaders accountable and rebuilding institutions that serve the people.
“Any governance system devoid of accountability cannot be deemed democratic,” he stated, underscoring the importance of citizen vigilance in ensuring that elected officials uphold their mandates.
Hon. Asiedu Nketia, aka General Mosquito reiterated the NDC’s commitment to this principle, noting that the party’s 2024 manifesto includes a comprehensive plan to restore integrity and transparency in public institutions.

He urged communicators and party faithful to focus on the broader mission of national renewal rather than partisan retribution.
“We must not allow political parties to serve as sanctuaries for criminals; a criminal remains a criminal, whether they belong to the NDC or the MPP,” he posited.

The NDC Chairman concluded by calling on all Ghanaians to unite in the pursuit of a more accountable and democratic nation, honouring the legacy of June 4th through collective action and vigilance.
