GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL MINISTER,  HON LINDA AKWELE OCLOO.

ASSEMBLY Members of the La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly in the Greater Accra Region have voted overwhelmingly against President John Dramani Mahama’s nominee for MCE, Alfredos Nii Anyetei.

In a decisive vote, 9 out of 14 rejected the nominee, signaling a strong pushback and a call for a candidate from within the assembly members.

The rejection follows growing calls from Assembly Members to appoint one of their own, showing disagreement with President Mahama’s nominee.

Tension reportedly ensued between the supporters of One Aaron Akron Annang, an Assembly member, who happens to be one of the 3 shortlisted persons for the President to nominat.

Some Assembly Members argue that the nominee lacks a strong connection with the local base.

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Linda Akwele Ocloo, appealed for calm and asked Assembly Members to forgive the nominee if he had offended anyone. However, her plea was met with resistance, as some supporters vocally demanded that Aaron Akron Annang aka Ice Tee, one of the initial shortlisted candidates, be considered instead.

The rejection has sparked confusion and division among NDC supporters in the constituency. The Regional Minister has since urged the Assembly members to reconsider their position, stressing the need to honour the President nominee.
