THIS MORNING, Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah will lead a major food relief effort for the Ghana Armed Forces, donating 1,000 bags of rice, along with thousands of tins of mackerel, tomatoes and cooking oil.
The donation is part of a broader three-pronged strategy to resolve the food crisis inherited by the current administration – including the staggering GHC275 million owed to food suppliers.
“This immediate gesture is not charity – it is responsibility,” Dr. Boamah noted ahead of the donation. “We’re resetting the Ghana Armed Forces, ensuring our troops are fed and dignified.”
The initiative signals a renewed commitment to the welfare of the Forces and a swift hands-on approach to restoring food security.
