THE NEW Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Western North Region has announced plans to challenge the outcome of the parliamentary election in the Aowin constituency, citing alleged electoral malpractice.

At a press conference, the party’s Regional Communications Director, Henry Ogyaba Addo, expressed concerns over what he described as voter intimidation, over-voting, and discrepancies in result collation during the election. He noted that these irregularities compromised the credibility of the process.
“We have gathered substantial evidence of irregularities that significantly affected the outcome of the election. It is our duty to ensure democracy prevails and that the will of the people is genuinely reflected,” Addo stated.
The NPP’s candidate, Abanga Yakubu Fusani, garnered 21,786 votes, narrowly losing to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Hon. Oscar Ofori Larbi, who secured 21,889 votes according to the Electoral Commission’s declared results.

The party has assured supporters that it will pursue legal action promptly, expressing confidence in the judiciary to address their concerns and deliver justice.
The NPP’s challenge signals a potential showdown in court, as the party seeks to overturn the results and reaffirm its commitment to upholding electoral integrity.
