Scores of La Dade-Kotopon Youth have graduated from the Nye Awo Kpakpa Skills Training Institute in the Greater Accra Regional.
The Nye Awo Kpakpa Training Institute was established by the Hon Member of Parliament for the people of La Dade-Kotopon Constituency in Accra, Madam Rita Naa Odoley Sowah.
Hon Naa Odoley Sowah established the Institution to train the youth of La Dade-Kotopon for free in different programmes which are expected to turn round their lives.
She informed the huge gathering that the graduation ceremony was a result of one of her campaign promises she made to her people prior to 2020 elections in the Constituency.
Some of the programmes the Nye Awo Kpakpa Institution teaches includes making of all kinds of pastries; liquid soaps; cosmetology; necklace and beads making; icecream making and many others that could make the graduants end a better living.
Hon Rita Naa Odoley Sowah supported each of these graduants with a satisfactory token as a startup capital to enable them to establish their own businesses at once.
She has also set aside ovens for the bakers to use for their jobs for free since they might not have such items immediately to work with to raise money for themselves.
According to the Hon La Dade-Kotopon MP, she had to borrow the funds to train these beneficiaries whilst she wait for her MP’s common fund.
This moves was due to current excruciating hardships across the country especially amongst the La youth and single mothers in the area.
One other set of trainees who are doing dress making expected to be graduated on later date that will be announced after they have completed their apprenticeship.
The MP hinted the Nye Awo Kpakpa Institute was privileged to have an NGO specialised in branding and took the trainees through how to brand their products and food items to attract customers.
Hon. Rita Naa Odoley Sowah had trained and supported a lot of youth in the area in diverse ways including people with disabilities who are beneficiaries in the area of education whilst other were supported with needed tools and gadgets to work with.
The Hon. MCE for La Dade-Kotopon Municipal Assembly, Solomon Quotei who added his voice, encouraged the graduants to make good use of the knowledge they acquired to be beneficial to themselves and soceity at large.
