THE MUNICIPAL Chief Executive (MCE) for Nkwanta South, Hon. Joseph Antwi Awal, together with the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Hon. Geoffrey Kini, has commissioned newly constructed educational facilities at Nkpaya in the Oti Region.

The facilities include a three-unit classroom block and a two-unit Kindergarten (KG) block, together with a two-bedroom accommodation facility for teachers.

The projects are expected to improve the learning environment and help address some of the educational infrastructure challenges facing Nkpaya, a predominantly farming community in the Nkwanta South Municipality.

Residents of the community had, over the years, appealed for improved educational infrastructure to support effective teaching and learning.

At a short commissioning ceremony, the Assembly Member for the Nkpaya Electoral Area, Hon. David Abassa, expressed gratitude to the Nkwanta South Municipal Assembly and the MP for supporting the development.

He said the new facilities would provide a more conducive environment for pupils and teachers and help improve education in the community.

The MCE, Hon. Joseph Antwi Awal, said the Assembly had several other development projects in the pipeline as part of efforts to transform the municipality.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring equitable development and improving basic infrastructure in communities across the country.

The MCE urged residents to support the Assembly in protecting and maintaining development projects to ensure that they serve their intended purpose for many years.

For his part, the MP for Nkwanta South, Hon. Geoffrey Kini, appealed to parents and community members to take good care of the new facilities.

He also urged parents to take a keen interest in the education of their children, stressing that education remains an important pathway to individual and community development.

He called on the community to work together with teachers and school authorities to create a supportive environment for the children to learn and succeed.
