THE COALITION for Good Governance, Rights and Justice (CGGRJ), in partnership with the Friends of Sammy Gyamfi, has issued a strong public defense of the Sammy Gyamfi (Esq.) following the circulation of a controversial video on social media.
The footage, which allegedly shows the acting Managing Director of GOLDBOD handing over an alleged bundle of US dollars to self-styled evangelist, Patricia Asieduaa, a popularly called Agradaa has stirred online debate. Critics claim the act may point to misconduct. However, the statement issued by the convener, Yakubu Mahmud Mudi, CGGRJ insists it was a private, personal gesture and not a misuse of public funds.
In their joint statement, the groups described the controversy as “a calculated distraction” orchestrated by political opponents to undermine the progress of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)-led government. They argue that the opposition is leveraging the video to divert attention from their own failures, including corruption and economic mismanagement.
Citing the Constitution and invoking the biblical principle “Let the one without sin cast the first stone,” the coalition decried what it labeled “trial by media,” stressing that no investigative body has authenticated the video or lodged any official complaint against Lawyer Gyamfi.
“Until due process is followed, Lawyer Sammy Gyamfi remains innocent,” the statement emphasized, urging media and civil society to return the national conversation to pressing issues such as economic reform, institutional accountability and youth empowerment, Mahmud Mudi stated.
The statement closed with a rallying call for fairness and political decency, declaring unwavering support for Sammy Gyamfi’s continued service to the nation.
