
IN A SIGNIFICANT move to bolster public-private partnerships, the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA) welcomed a delegation from Dufry & GTDC Ltd., a joint venture between global travel retail leader Dufry and the Ghana Tourism Development Company.
The meeting, held on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the GFZA headquarters, aimed to strengthen collaborative efforts and discuss avenues for economic growth within Ghana’s Free Zones framework.

The delegation, led by General Manager Ms. Ines Gaaliche, comprised key members from the administration and finance departments of Dufry & GTDC Ltd.
Their visit focused on formally introducing the management team, providing updates on current operations, and exploring opportunities for continued engagement with the GFZA.

Ms. Gaaliche expressed appreciation for the support provided by the GFZA, highlighting the conducive environment created for enterprises operating under the Free Zones Scheme.
She emphasized the company’s commitment to contributing meaningfully to Ghana’s economic transformation through strategic investments and operations.
Apau Wiredu Lateef, Deputy CEO of the GFZA, commended the collaboration between Dufry & GTDC Ltd. and key government agencies.
He reiterated the Authority’s dedication to supporting value-driven private sector initiatives, aligning with GFZA’s mission to promote processing and manufacturing of goods through the establishment of Export Processing Zones (EPZs) and encourage the development of commercial and service activities at sea and airport areas.

The Ghana Free Zones Authority, established under the Free Zone Act, 1995 (Act 504), continues to play a pivotal role in creating an attractive and conducive business environment. By offering competitive Free Zones and Special Economic Zones (SEZs) incentives and operating an efficient “one-stop-shop” for investment promotion, the GFZA aims to transform Ghana into the Gateway to Africa.
