THE MINISTRY of Local Government, Chieftaincy and Religious Affairs is set to host a special orientation programme aimed at empowering female Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to excel in leadership and strengthen local governance.
The two-day event, themed “Breaking Barriers, Building Legacies: Unlocking Leadership Excellence in Local Governance,” will bring together women leaders from across the country to build their capacity, share experiences and enhance their impact in their respective districts.
The programme is being led by the Minister for Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim, with support from the Deputy Minister, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah. It reflects the government’s commitment to promoting women’s participation in leadership and decision-making at the local level.
The orientation will take place at Lancaster Hotel Kumasi from March 30 to 31, 2026. Participants are expected to gain practical skills, leadership insights, and renewed confidence to drive development and improve governance in their communities.

The initiative underscores a broader national effort to empower women, break leadership barriers and build a strong legacy for future generations.
