THE Austrian Cultural Forum has been officially opened in Accra, marking a new chapter in the strong and growing relationship between Ghana and Austria.
The colourful ceremony took place on February 25 and was led by Ghana’s Deputy Minister of Tourism and Culture, Hon. Yussif Jajah. Speaking at the event, he described the new Forum as “a bridge between continents,” explaining that it represents more than just diplomatic ties.

According to him, it reflects the shared values of creativity, innovation, and mutual respect between the people of both countries.
Austria’s State Secretary, Sepp Schellhorn, also expressed his country’s strong commitment to deepening cooperation with Ghana. He said the Forum will create exciting opportunities for collaboration in education, science and the creative arts.

He added that the new centre will help strengthen institutional partnerships and encourage knowledge exchange between the two nations. The Austrian Cultural Forum in Accra is Austria’s second cultural forum in Sub-Saharan Africa. Its establishment highlights Ghana’s reputation as a stable democracy and an important cultural hub in the region.

The Forum is expected to open doors for greater cooperation in cultural exchange programmes, sustainable tourism development, heritage preservation, film, music, and the growth of creative businesses.
This landmark initiative signals a bright future for Ghana–Austria relations and promises to bring fresh opportunities for artists, students, entrepreneurs, and cultural institutions in both countries.
