THE GHANA Free Zones Authority (GFZA) has participated in a high-level business engagement in Surat, India, organised by the Surat Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SGCCI), during the 2nd Edition of the SGCCI Global Village, Global Exchange and Trade Exhibition held from January 24 to 26, 2026.
The meeting brought together leading business executives and industry players from India, many of whom showed strong interest in investing in Ghana, particularly within the Free Zones and industrial parks.

During the engagement, the Chief Executive Officer of GFZA, Dr. Mary Awusi, highlighted Ghana’s strategic location, political and economic stability, investor-friendly policies, and attractive incentives under the Ghana Free Zones Programme. She emphasised Ghana’s role as a reliable gateway to regional and global markets.
The meeting was also supported by Nana Kojo Asiedu, First Secretary for Trade, Tourism and Culture at the Ghana High Commission in India. He reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to supporting investors and assured participants of the High Commission’s readiness to facilitate smooth business entry into Ghana.

The engagement provided an opportunity to showcase Ghana’s industrialisation agenda, pro-investment policies, and the strong institutional support available to businesses operating under the Free Zones framework.
As part of the visit, Dr. Awusi toured two major manufacturing companies in Surat—T-Con Food, a leading chocolate manufacturer, and Axabul Industries Pvt Ltd, a lubricant production company. Both companies expressed keen interest in establishing operations in Ghana, citing the country’s favourable investment climate and access to African markets.
The mission ended with a productive B2B networking session, where GFZA officials engaged directly with SGCCI members to discuss potential partnerships and investment opportunities. These discussions are expected to lead to follow-up engagements and concrete business collaborations.

Building on this momentum, GFZA, in partnership with SGCCI, is planning to host a 20-member business delegation from Surat to Ghana in February 2026. The visit will include site tours, investment briefings, and meetings with key stakeholders in Ghana’s industrial sector.
This engagement marks another significant step in strengthening Ghana–India trade relations and positioning Ghana as a preferred investment destination in Africa.
