PRESIDENT John Dramani Mahama has named Dr. Martin Kolbil Yamborigya as the new Acting Commissioner of the Domestic Tax Revenue Division (DTRD) of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), effective today, November 17, 2025.
Dr. Yamborigya takes over from Mr. Edward Apenteng Gyambrah, who has retired from the service. The newly appointed Acting Commissioner is known for his expertise in tax administration and public finance, with more than 20 years of experience in Ghana’s revenue system.
Over the years, Dr. Yamborigya has played an important role in improving domestic tax policy, strengthening compliance, and helping to raise revenue. He has been a key figure in the GRA’s ongoing transformation and modernization efforts.
Before this latest appointment, he held several senior roles within the Authority. These include Audit Team Leader for the Tax Audit Unit, Head of Audit at the Legon Medium Taxpayer Office, Head of Post Clearance Audit at DTRD, and Head of Audit for Special Audits (Audit Factory). He also served as Acting Assistant Commissioner at the DTRD Secretariat.
Most recently, Dr. Yamborigya worked as Assistant Commissioner and Head of Tax Audit at the Large Taxpayer Office (LTO), where he led major reforms aimed at boosting tax compliance, widening the tax net, and improving domestic tax operations.

His leadership style, commitment to service, and results-driven approach have earned him high regard within the GRA and among stakeholders in the tax administration space.
Dr. Yamborigya’s appointment is expected to bring fresh energy to the Authority’s efforts to improve tax compliance, expand digital tax systems, and strengthen partnerships that support Ghana’s domestic revenue growth.
Management and staff of the GRA have congratulated him and wished him success in his new role.
