USA ZANGO CAUCUS COORDINATOR, ALHAJI ABDUL-SALAAM ZEEBA.

Ahmed M. Gedel Writes:

THE USA Zongo Caucus extends heartfelt commendation to His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and the Pilgrimage Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) for their visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the Muslim Ummah in Ghana.

For the second time in less than a year, the government has announced a significant reduction in Hajj fares, pegging the 2026 pilgrimage at ₵60,000. This bold and compassionate gesture speaks volumes about President Mahama’s empathy-driven governance and his deep understanding of the socio-religious realities of Ghanaian Muslims.

MOHAMMED AHMED GEDEL.

For decades, many devout Muslims — particularly from the Zongo and less-privileged communities have struggled to afford the cost of fulfilling the fifth pillar of Islam. By taking this decisive step, President Mahama has not only lightened the financial burden but also restored hope, dignity, and inclusiveness among Ghana’s Muslim faithful.

The USA Zongo Caucus views this act as a continuation of the President’s inclusive leadership legacy one that bridges faith, community, and governance. It reaffirms his long-standing belief that national progress must go hand in hand with social equity and religious respect.

We also commend the Pilgrimage Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) for its professionalism, transparency, and commitment to efficient Hajj management. The streamlined systems introduced under the current administration have strengthened public confidence and reaffirmed Ghana’s leadership role in Hajj organization across West Africa.

As members of the Ghanaian Muslim diaspora, the USA Zongo Caucus recognizes this milestone as an inspiration to deepen our collective responsibility in promoting national development, interfaith harmony, and global solidarity. We believe that when governance is rooted in compassion and fairness, it becomes a source of unity rather than division.

We therefore urge all Muslims, both in Ghana and abroad, to pray for President Mahama’s continued strength, wisdom, and guidance. May Allah reward this benevolent leadership and bless Ghana with enduring peace, prosperity, and cohesion.

Signed:
Leadership of USA Zongo Caucus
New York, United States of America( USA).
