THE CHIEF of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, on Sunday led a high-powered delegation of National Democratic Congress (NDC) officials to Akwatia in the Eastern Region as part of efforts to galvanize support for the party’s parliamentary candidate, Hon. Bernard Bediako Baidoo, ahead of the crucial September 2 by-election.
The visit, which drew hundreds of enthusiastic supporters and residents, turned into a show of growing momentum for the NDC in the constituency.
The people of Akwatia welcomed the delegation with drumming, dancing, and chants of party slogans, creating a charged atmosphere of unity and hope.

Addressing the crowd, Hon. Julius Debrah underscored the NDC’s unwavering commitment to grassroots development and assured the people of Akwatia that their long-standing concerns, ranging from poor road infrastructure to youth unemployment and under-resourced health facilities, would be addressed under an NDC-led administration.
“We are not here just to win an election, we are here because the NDC believes in the people of Akwatia,” Hon. Debrah stated. “This by-election is a defining moment to choose leadership that listens, responds, and delivers,” he added.

He further commended the parliamentary candidate, Hon. Bernard Bediako Baidoo, describing him as a humble, visionary leader with deep ties to the constituency and a proven track record of service.
As part of the visit, the delegation paid a courtesy call on traditional leaders, where Hon. Debrah gave strong assurances that the NDC would work closely with chiefs and opinion leaders to drive sustainable development across Akwatia.
The chiefs welcomed the message and urged all parties to maintain peace before, during, and after the by-election.

The by-election follows the recent vacancy of the Akwatia seat, and political activity has intensified as parties scramble for voter confidence. The NDC’s campaign has been buoyed by increasing grassroots mobilisation and a unified message of inclusive development.
